- Can I create income with my gift?
At this time, CGMA is not able to support those planned giving vehicles that also provide the donor with annual income. But that may change in the future. In the meantime, visit How to Give to view the current planned giving options available.
- I am unable to make a current gift, but I'd still like to support CGMA in the future. Any ideas?
An easy and low-cost way to make a gift to CGMA is to include CGMA in your will or revocable trust. Gifts by Will are a major source of endowment support at CGMA. Each individual legacy contributes to our financial strength. If you have not already done so, please consider putting CGMA in your will or revocable trust. See our Bequest Language page for samples of how to do this. You can also designate CGMA the beneficiary of Life Insurance, or Retirement-Plan Benefits.
- What asset should I use to make my gift?

- Can I direct how CGMA will use my gift?
Like our goal to get to “yes” with requests for assistance, we want to be able to fulfill your wishes as best as we are able. Many donors direct that their gifts be used to fund one of our main buckets of assistance: disaster relief, education, and day-to-day support. Of course, you can always make any gift in memory or honor of a loved one. Please be sure to discuss this with us when you make your gift.
- How will CGMA recognize my gift?
Your gift will be listed in the Annual Report in the year you make the gift and you will become a permanent member of The Polaris Council. Of course, we will also honor any requests for gifts to be anonymous.
- Why should I consider a gift to CGMA?
Gifts are made for many different reasons. Often gifts are made:
- To ensure Coast Guard families are never alone during financial hardship.
- To strengthen mission readiness by supporting the well-being of those who serve.
- To honor a shipmate, mentor, or loved one who shaped your journey.
- To express gratitude for the support you or your family received.
- To protect the long-term stability of a trusted resource for our Coast Guard community.
- To celebrate your commitment to helping our own for generations to come.
